So much to tell....

Well, since my last blog before the summer vacation, a lot has happened in our family. It has been a very rough few months for the girls and I. School got off to a wonderful start and the girls are doing well in school (Megan, more so than Susan, but, it's getting better). Megan is quite the student, she is in 5th grade level math and reading/spelling right now. She's such a smart girl. Susan is getting better with her penmanship and is learning to read. She's come quite far in the last few weeks. Our visit to Denver was not long enough, it was great to spend time with the kids. I can't wait to go for Christmas and show my kids the sights of Denver at Christmastime.

As most everyone knows by now, my husband, Keith passed away on 10/05/08. The girls and I miss him very much. It has been hard to come home every night and not have him here to vent my frustrations with my job to and to have my best friend with me. The girls are adjusting well. I think our dog, Ziggy, is a little more lonely without him. Luckily my neighbors have been able to help me out with babysitting the girls on the nights/weekends when I have to work. And where would I be without my wonderful grandparents? They have just been wonderful to help me when I've needed it. I have not yet heard from the Coroner's office yet as to the official cause of death, but, I am trying to be patient while I wait. It is looking like that information will not be available until after Thanksgiving.

I took the girls out Trick or Treating in Uncle Joe and Aunt Deb's neighborhood. What a great night it was. It was unseasonally warm and dry that night. We were able to get to old fashioned feel, walking through the fallen leaves and going house to house. What a wonderful neighborhood of people they are. The girls filled up their candy bags and still wanted to go some more. Bailey looked very cute in her "Red Lobster" costume. She is such a funny dog.

I took the girls to see Disney On Ice last weekend at the Taco Bell Arena on the BSU campus. What a wonderful show it was. The girls had a great time. What a workout we received when we had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to the top balcony for our seats - I won't buy them up that high again.. lol.

We are off to Chuck-e-Cheese this weekend as Susan's reward for getting to class on time, behaving in class, and for both of the girls getting their chores done in a timely manner. What fun they will have while we are there. The weather is getting colder and wetter here, I've had a cold for months that will not go away, so, I keep a lot of Kleenex nearby.

I wil post more, and try to keep this updated a little bit more often, I'm getting into routines with work and kids.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and cards and flowers. It has meant so much to me and the girls. We appreciate all of you.

First Day

Well, I decided that I would start a blog today. I don't feel like my daily family goings on are all that much to talk about, but, it might be a good way of keeping family and friends that are not in the area informed of life at our house.

As most of the family knows, I had to have Galbladder removal surgery on 7/11/08. I have recovered well, but, my stamina is still much to be desired. I still get tired fairly quickly, but, I'm healing well. I will return to work after 8/16/08.

Today I am getting house and car ready for our grand adventure to Denver to pick up Megan from Grandma Cathy's, Aunt Anne's, and Aunt Michele's homes after she has been visiting for over a month now. Susan very much misses her big sister and is excited to be seeing her on Thursday afternoon. I got a bunch of magazines to keep Grandma and Grandpa Hanami (not that I expect Grandpa to be awake much) entertained on the drive. So much to do to get myself and Susan ready to go. Not to mention making sure that Keith has groceries and little surprises left here and there in the house for him to find while Susan and I are gone.

Well, I need to get going to get some more things ready. I will post more and some some pictures when we return from Denver.

Be safe and have fun!!
